You know how to help your child if they're choking ...

... but do you know how to help them if they're having trouble making pronouns agree in number with their antecedents?

  1. What a great question, I think I will use it for my bulletin board on "meet the teacher" night.

  2. Actually, is that question right? Shouldn't it read "you know how to help your child if HE is choking..." and shouldn't it continue on in the singular?

    1. Exactly. It's the pronoun/antecedent disagreement I was talking about. I'm making fun of a public service announcement about drug abuse that has this grammar problem.
